Michelle Ehrich

Michelle L. Ehrich, the author of THE ANXIOUS PARENTS' GUIDE TO QUALITY CHILDCARE, specializes in writing about childcare issues from a parent's perspective, offering comforting support, straightforward advice and unique insight.  She has been the Childcare Expert for GeoParent (www.geoparent.com) and has been interviewed and quoted in several publications and on radio.  Her articles on childcare issues appear in several parenting websites as well as on The Anxious Parents' Website (www.anxiousparents.com), a site she maintains as a service to her "anxious parent" readers.

Michelle is currently is fifth grade teacher in New Jersey, having “retired” from a sixteen-year career in investment banking and finance. Her most recent caregiver was with her family started with her children when Michelle began her teaching career in 2001 and stayed until 2007, when her children were old enough to be more independent. She and the caregiver remain in close contact and speak on a weekly basis.  While employed as a vice president with banking and investment banking firms, a period which overlapped with the first seven years of her children's lives, she was fortunate enough to have found two long-term, high quality childcare arrangements that also involved very loving caregivers. During that time, she discovered that many of her colleagues who were working parents had innumerable problems finding and keeping quality childcare, leading her to examine why her family was successful while others were not. This, in turn, led to her first book, THE ANXIOUS PARENTS' GUIDE TO QUALITY CHILDCARE (Perigee). As a teacher, she sees many parents, both colleagues and parents of students, still struggling with the same dilemmas she faced in her first search for childcare. The copies of her book that she keeps on her desk are often borrowed and well-used. Indeed, these childcare concerns and her advice appear to be timeless.

In addition to her teaching and writing credentials, Michelle has an MBA in Finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University and is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate in Economics from Dickinson College in Pennsylvania.
