Dr. Adam Weiss

Dr. Adam Weiss is Board Certified by the National Chiropractic Board of Examiners and is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine and the Authors Guild. Adam graduated from National University of Health Sciences in 1992 and completed his clinical residency training at the Lombard and Chicago National Outpatient Centers. After completing undergraduate studies where he received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry at Illinois State University, Adam went on to graduate studies in Mammal Physiology at the University of Illinois. Adam was then accepted into the chiropractic program at National University of Health Sciences, a top ranked Chiropractic University in the United States. During his five-year program, he became a certified acupuncturist and received a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. In addition, Adam has completed over 1700 hours in post-doctorate work in spinal rehabilitation, sports injuries, and nutrition.

Adam has been in private practice for the past sixteen years, specializing in neuromuscular injuries. As the medical director of Body By Pilates Fitness Center in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, Adam has been successfully integrating the BackSmart Method, sports conditioning and lifestyle changes including weight loss programs into his practice. Adam’s knowledge of endurance, flexibility, and strengthening exercises are a result of his own experience with martial arts and from years of weight training; he has held a first-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do since the age of fifteen, having competed in state and national competitions at the junior and senior levels

Adam is highly sought after as a team physician for professional athletes and has worked with professional kick boxers, Olympic-level judo players, marathon runners and golfers; all of whom depend on Adam’s unique aerobic program and his advanced strengthening and conditioning exercises. Adam works with these athletes and teaches Pilate reformer classes while maintaining a full-time practice during which time he also presents strengthening and conditioning exercises at workshops for professional and amateur sport clubs and martial arts studios throughout the United States.

Adam’s own experience with back pain at an early age forced him to modify and adapt exercise routines, resulting in more productive and effective forms of exercise for people of all ages. The BackSmart Method is a complete full-body workout. As a safe and progressive approach to the most effective exercises, the BackSmart Method is comprised of hundreds of exercises, which allow a workout to be customized to meet individual needs. Adam has written THE BACKSMART FITNESS PLAN: A TOTAL BODY WORKOUT TO STRENGTHEN AND HEAL YOUR BACK, THE ABS SMART FITNESS PLAN and has contributed to national magazines on health and fitness based on this system of toning and strengthening muscles—increasing aerobic endurance and improving posture, reducing joint and back stress and reducing tension and stress in general. Adam has also been interview on Project Health Radio on health and fitness based on this system.

Adam is currently working on a new proposal for THE CARDO SMART FITNESS PLAN is a continuation of these methods targeting weight reduction and enhanced aerobic endurance for optimum success.
