Michael Boyette specializes in making complex health information accessible and engaging to consumers. He’s authored books on a variety of medical topics, ranging from childhood asthma and attention-deficit disorder to staying healthy during a hospital stay.
A 1976 graduate of the University of Florida College of Journalism, he began his career editing medical/nursing books and journals for such publishers as Lippincott and W.B. Saunders. He went on to ECRI, a nonprofit health research agency, where he was editor-in-chief of one of the first publications in the new field of hospital risk management—a discipline that explored ways to make hospitals safer and reduce medical errors. He also directed public relations for US Healthcare, a leading HMO that was recognized for its innovative quality programs.
Boyette has since applied his knowledge of medicine and the healthcare field to help patients and parents manage their own, and their children’s, health. Most of his books are written in collaboration with recognized experts. A long-time resident of Philadelphia, he is currently a senior vice president at a leading Philadelphia advertising and public relations agency.
